Coombeshead Rewilding, Lifton, Devon

Coombeshead Rewilding in Broadwoodwidger offers a magical glamping and camping experience in a unique setting. Nestled on a 150 acre rewilding area in Devonshire, the animals roam freely, offering a truly authentic break in nature. They offer a range of wonderful experiences, including guided wildlife walks, training and events, animal encounters and much more to learn about our work to reintroduce lost species to the UK.

This gorgeous site is perfect for an unforgettable getaway in a glorious location. The wonderful glamping area contains fabulous shepherd huts. Based on the edge of our re-wilding area, you’ll get the amazing opportunity to catch a glimpse of our ‘re-wilding helpers’ such as water buffalo, wild pigs, mouflon sheep and Exmoor ponies, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of Dartmoor.

These beautifully made shepherds hut come with a comfy double bed with bedding that easily converts into a seating area and a table. Facilities include a wood burner, towels sinks and gas hob, kitchens utensils/cutlery, solar power lights, welcome pack, heated shower and toilet facilities and access to a guest communal area. Outside you can huddle around the toasty campfire whilst gazing at the starry night sky.

The idyllic camping field is set in a private and tranquil area, with only 4 pitches on offer, ensuring plenty of space for relaxing and unwinding in. Each pitch includes a fire pit and all our guests have use of the heated shower and toilet, plus the communal area and pizza oven.

While staying here, you can make the most of the fantastic experiences on offer, including specialist activities such as guided tours of the re-wilding area, animal encounters, an evening beaver watching or a discussion evening with ecologists. Whether it’s viewing the animals from one of the viewing platforms or taking part in organised beaver watching, enhance your stay with a truly special experience.

They are only 8 miles from the bustling town of Launceston, home to a magnificent castle and interesting shops to browse around. You can also visit the historic market town of Tavistock or walk around the picturesque landscape of the Tamar Valley. Enjoy a drink or two at one of the nearby pubs, with The Pint and Post, Arscott Arms and Village Inn all highly recommended.
