Burnbake, Corfe Castle, Wareham, Dorset
Burnbake near Wareham is a 12 acre partially wooded campsite situated between Corfe Castle and Studland on the Isle of Purbeck. Its superb location is ideal for exploring Dorset’s Jurassic Coast.
This campsite also has 22 forest lodges which can sleep between 4 and 6 people. Each lodge comes with a wood burning stove and a hot tub.
The facilities at Burnbake Campsite are excellent, being regularly checked, cleaned and well maintained, they have two purpose built centrally located buildings.
The original main building has both gents and ladies facilities containing; loos, hot showers and washing sinks with mirrors. The ladies also have hairdryers and the gents has an electric shaver plug, please note neither building has standard plug points. They then have a second block with additional unisex showers, a baby room with facilities for changing and bathing and a laundry room with coin-operated washing machine and tumble dryer.
Both buildings have washing up sinks and behind the shop, there is a chemical loo disposal point. There are two large fields adjoin the site for group games. There is a cafe on site open morning and evening for breakfasts, hot and cold drinks and evening meals. The cafe is not run by the campsite but separately operated and is open most weekends throughout the season and every day during the school holidays.
The well stocked shop opens twice a day. Milk, bread and cakes arrive daily in time for breakfast. Calor gas, charcoal, cooking and camping equipment are also available. There is also a freezer pack hire service available at the shop.
10 electric hook-up points have been installed on site and they are on a first come first served basis, with an additional charge of £3.50 per night. Campervans are welcome too.
They love dogs at Burnbake, they are of course free, but must be on a lead at all times and obviously cleaned up after.
Studland has three miles of sandy beach and excellent safe bathing, sailing and windsurfing. The seaside resort of Swanage also has good swimming, tennis, putting, bowls and other leisure activities. The campsite has direct access to bridleways for walking, biking and horse riding. The 18 hole Isle of Purbeck Golf Course and the South West Coastal Path are nearby.
They also have a 7 acre field attached to the main campsite. This field is available for hire, in part or as one area for events, scout camps, large group camps etc. Telephone for additional details and charges.
