Haggs Bank Campsite & Bunkhouse, Alston, Cumbria

Haggs Bank Campsite & Bunkhouse set in the stunning location of Alston, the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and known as England’s Last Wilderness. The site offers visitors a friendly welcome within a warm, renovated building, touring site with electric hookups and an adjoining campsite.

The whole site has been created to help keep its environmental footprint to a minimum and has its own private spring water supply and treatment plant to make sure any water leaving the site after it has been used it is of the highest quality.

Haggs Bank Campsite has 2 special areas that each provides a unique camping experience. The small woodland area offers travellers the opportunity to camp under the stars and there are trees for hammock tents! The showers and toilets are attached to the bunkhouse and included in the price.

The North Pennines has a vibrant history of lead mining which can be rediscovered at the nearby Killhope Lead Mining Museum. Take a trip on a steam train, walk behind a waterfall or see whether you can spot the local populations of red squirrel, roe deer, red grouse and even pine marten. For those wanting to explore a bit further, it's only 20 miles to Hadrian's Wall and just an hour from Newcastle.
