The Salty Shepherd, Camber, Rye, East Sussex

The Salty Shepherd is a beautifully appointed shepherd's hut located just a 10-minute walk from Camber Beach. For those who want to enjoy both coast and country, we really are the perfect place to stay. The hut enjoys uninterrupted views over the Walland & Romney Marshes, with nothing surrounding you other than rural country views. The beautiful town of Rye is just a short drive away, as are many of East Sussex's attractions.

Every feature in the hut has been carefully considered, ensuring guests have everything they need for an enjoyable and relaxing break away. As we are a farming family ourselves, we believe in supporting local businesses. We have tried to continue this ethos in the way we have designed and built our hut. It was built by Ashwood Shepherds Huts and is fully insulated, decorated to a high standard and has solid English oak floorboards throughout. Great care has been taken with the furnishings. You will find full-length linen curtains & blinds, a comfortable double bed with memory foam mattress, 100% French linen sheets and Egyptian cotton towels and tea towels.

Our shepherd's hut is truly a unique, luxury, glamping experience. It is in an entirely secluded spot and offers those staying the perfect place for complete relaxation. When waking in the morning, you will find there is complete silence apart from birdsong. We know the importance to find a place of solitude in this modern world and are pleased to be able to offer a bolt hole for those who want to rest, relax and recuperate.

The small village of Camber is well known for its incredible beach. The beach is seven miles long and stretches from the Rother Estuary at Rye Harbour, all the way to the Kent village of Dungeness to the east. It has the only sand dune system in East Sussex which is home to many unusual species of wildlife. A climb to the top offers one or two rather nice secluded picnic spots with an amazing view.

Just a 10-minute drive from the hut and you will reach Rye. This historic Cinque Port town has a very distinctive and beautiful skyline as it rises above the marsh. It is full of history and beauty, which has led it to being featured in numerous films and documentaries. You will also find a variety of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
