Wild Orcadian offers a unique and adventurous escape in a secluded and awe-inspiring location. Set against a backdrop of pristine beaches, extraordinary wildlife and some of the clearest night skies in the UK, it provides the perfect setting to disconnect, relax and fully immerse in nature.
Guests can choose from a variety of accommodation options, including glamping huts, yurts, a charming loft, a cosy bothy and spaces for tents and campervans.
Accommodation
Camping options include tent pitches set across terraced fields with traditional stone walls, offering stunning views towards the sea. Beaches and cliffs are just a short walk or drive away. Facilities include hot showers, toilets, a washing machine, drying line, communal kitchen and dining space. An honesty shop is also available, offering organic and farm-fresh produce.
Sandpiper Yurt
This yurt accommodates 2 adults and 2 children and features a four-poster double bed, futon beds, cooking equipment and a wood-burning stove. A starter pack of logs and kindling is provided, with additional firewood available on-site.
The Pods
Designed and constructed on the farm, the pods offer panoramic sea views through fully glazed doors. They include futons, blankets and essential amenities, accommodating up to four guests, though they are best suited to two or three for added comfort.
Corbie Shepherd’s Hut & Bonny Shiel Shepherd’s Hut
These cosy shepherd’s huts offer built-in beds, kitchen areas and wood-burning stoves for both heating and cooking. Outdoor fire pits with BBQ grills enhance the rustic experience. Each hut includes blankets, cooking equipment and a starter pack of logs, with additional firewood available to purchase.
Pentland Loft
This accommodation caters for up to four guests, with space for a fifth if required.
The Scooty Bothy
A snug and comfortable option, ideal for two guests.
Guests can also enjoy a communal pizza oven, while the on-site honesty shop stocks local and whole foods, fresh eggs, bread (available on request) and seasonal farm produce.
Visiting the Area
Wild Orcadian is located on the peaceful island of South Ronaldsay. The nearby village of St Margaret’s Hope, just 3 miles away, offers a selection of places to eat as well as local craft shops.
The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and history. Guests can explore attractions such as the Tomb of the Eagles and Hoxa Tapestry Gallery, or enjoy scenic coastal walks, including the South Ronaldsay coastal route from Newark Bay, just a 7-minute walk from Wheems.
