Exploring Bude & Beyond
Bude is a modern, spacious resort, offering open downland above the beaches rather than a traditional promenade. The area boasts three miles of beaches, with Crooklets Beach considered one of the best, second only to Australia’s Bondi Beach.
Widemouth Bay, approximately two and a half miles south, is a long sandy beach popular with surfers. Both Bude and Widemouth have rock pools at low tide where children can spend hours exploring with shrimping nets and crab lines.
Coastal paths abound in the area, with the walk to Crackington Haven (10 miles) regarded as one of the most picturesque in the British Isles. Being close to the Devon border, visitors are also within easy reach of Clovelly, Hartland Point, Westward Ho! and many other North Devon resorts.
