Guests can step back to a simpler style of camping and enjoy a true back-to-basics escape. With minimal light pollution, the area is perfect for stargazing on clear nights. Visitors can pitch their tents in open fields, light a campfire, and unwind beneath expansive, star-filled skies while soaking up the peaceful surroundings.
Inspired by childhood summers spent helping on a family campsite in the 1970s and 1980s, the site has been designed to offer a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where guests can truly unwind. There are no fixed pitches, allowing plenty of open space for children to play, explore, and make new friends. As a working family farm, great care is taken in looking after the animals, and guests are welcome to share in the experience. Children can join in with morning feeding and even collect fresh eggs from the hens.
A unique washing-up area overlooks the pigs, offering a charming and memorable start to the day. The site also features a spacious, well-equipped and heated toilet and shower block open year-round, with private family-sized bathrooms including a large shower, toilet, basin, and mirror. Additional facilities include a washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge freezer, drying wall, and electric points for hair dryers, straighteners, and phone charging, though bringing a power pack is recommended.
The handcrafted Shepherd’s Hut is thoughtfully designed to provide a peaceful and comfortable stay. It features a king-size bed with a cosy child’s bunk above, complete with fresh linens, memory foam mattresses, and soft pillows. A compact kitchen includes a sink with running water, a double gas hob, and all the essentials for simple cooking, while a wood-burning stove keeps the space warm. Guests can step outside to enjoy views across Wistlandpound Reservoir.
The Drovers Hut, built on a restored WWII army ammunition trailer, offers a unique stay for up to five guests. It includes a king-size bed, two single bunks, and a pull-out bed, all with comfortable bedding. Inside, a country-style kitchen features a Belfast sink, oak worktop, gas hob, and a traditional wood-burning range with oven. Solar lighting and candles create a cosy atmosphere, while a games cupboard provides entertainment. Although off-grid, guests have access to a communal fridge freezer and charging points nearby. Outside, the hut offers a secure decking area, picnic bench, firepit, BBQ, wood-fired hot tub, and a private bathroom with a shower and toilet.
For a luxury off-grid experience, the Crinkly Cabin provides a unique glamping stay with a private hot tub and sauna. Sleeping up to six guests, it is ideal for families, couples, or groups. Built from shipping containers and set within a private three-acre field, the cabin offers scenic views of the North Devon countryside and a nearby stream accessed via a wooden bridge. Inside, there is an open-plan living area, a wood-burning stove with oven, and a well-equipped kitchen with hot and cold water. Two bedrooms each feature a king-size bed and a single day bed, with additional beds available if required. A private shower room is located just outside.
