Boathouse Farm is a family-run, traditional mixed organic farm that has been in operation for over 40 years. Situated in the heart of Sussex and surrounded by scenic country trails and the breathtaking South Downs, it provides an idyllic setting for a peaceful escape. Camping at the farm remains one of Sussex’s best-kept secrets, where guests are free to pitch their tents wherever they choose, whether in open fields or close to the beautiful River Ouse. Visitors can spend their days wild swimming, fishing, paddle boarding, or simply relaxing and enjoying the tranquillity of the river and surrounding countryside.
The site caters exclusively to tents and small campervans and is equipped with flushing toilets, hot showers and washing-up facilities to ensure a comfortable stay. One of the standout features of Boathouse Farm is the generous space available, allowing guests plenty of room to spread out. Children of all ages can play freely without the usual crowds, and campers are not positioned closely together, offering a more relaxed and spacious experience.
Campfires are an essential part of the camping experience, and guests are welcome to bring their own or hire one of the on-site fire pits. Evenings can be spent wrapped in blankets, toasting marshmallows under the stars for a truly memorable stay.
A short walk along a footpath leads to The Anchor Inn, a popular local pub known for its delicious food and welcoming indoor and outdoor dining spaces. Campers can also enjoy breakfast rolls and coffee served daily. For a relaxing summer activity, rowing boats are available to hire from the pub, offering the chance to drift along the river. Within walking distance, guests will also find The Laughing Fish pub in Isfield village, as well as Isfield Farm Shop for local produce and essentials.
There is a wide range of attractions in the surrounding area, including the Bluebell Railway & Museum, National Trust - Bateman’s, Wilderness Wood, Urban Jump and Lewes Castle, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.
