Shilvington, East Shilvinghampton, Portesham, Dorset
Shilvington is a working family farm in East Shilvinghampton surrounded by panoramic countryside views. Set within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the farm provides a choice of accommodation for family holidays, short breaks and peaceful escapes.
Working in partnership with Feather Down which is one of the UK’s best-known glamping holiday companies, Shilvington provides luxury canvas accommodation close to the farmyard. Cows, goats, pigs, hens and ducks are only a short walk away which makes the farm particularly appealing to families with young children. Each tent provides a private space alongside the friendly hospitality of a working Dorset farm.
The farm also has a small and secluded Camping and Caravanning Club Certified Site away from the main farm entrance. It has space for tents and up to five caravans. Facilities include electric hook-up, drinking water, a chemical disposal point and freezer access. The What3words reference for the site is cowboy.visit.rationing. Fields are also available for rallies and larger groups.
Shilvington’s privately owned cabins provide another type of accommodation on the farm. Each cabin has been thoughtfully designed and carefully positioned within the surrounding landscape. These private spaces are intended for those who feel a lasting connection to the area and would like a place of their own within it.
Alpaca walks give visitors the opportunity to meet the farm’s alpacas before heading into the Dorset countryside. Henry leads each walk and answers questions along the way. The group includes Fred who likes to lead from the front, small and inquisitive Alan, cheeky Nimrod, curious Jerrico and the newest male Chewpaca.
Shilvington is less than 10 minutes from Chesil Beach and around 15 minutes from the golden sands of Weymouth Beach. Nearby West Bay is known as a filming location for the television series Broadchurch. Chesil Beach forms part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Dorset also has rolling countryside, historic attractions, traditional pubs and a wide choice of restaurants to explore during a stay.
