Mandale Campsite – Rural Retreat in the Peak District National Park
Nestled on the edge of Lathkill Dale in the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park, Mandale Campsite offers a peaceful countryside escape on a working farm, with grazing animals in the surrounding fields and panoramic rural views. Ideally situated approximately one mile from the village of Over Haddon and just a few miles from Monyash, the campsite provides an excellent base for exploring the local area.
Camping Facilities
Mandale Campsite features two camping fields open to the general public, welcoming tents, campervans, and motorhomes (please note that touring caravans are not permitted).
The main field is ideal for families and small groups and includes three electric hook-up points.
The second field is slightly sloped but offers a more secluded and scenic setting for those seeking tranquillity.
Facilities on-site include:
Two toilet blocks
A shower block with four showers in each section
A washroom equipped with a fridge and freezer
Hot water, which is coin-operated at 20p per minute
To maintain the serene atmosphere, the campsite has the following guidelines:
Large groups and loud music are not permitted
Campfires are not allowed, but disposable barbecues are welcome
Dogs are allowed, but must be kept on a lead at all times
During bank holiday weekends, a two-night minimum stay is required
For hook-up bookings, a three-night minimum stay applies
In addition to camping, the site also offers a camping barn and a pine log cabin, available for booking via the campsite’s website.
Exploring the Local Area
Nearby Over Haddon and Monyash each offer excellent local pubs, with Monyash also featuring a well-equipped children’s play area. Just three miles away, the historic market town of Bakewell provides shops, eateries, and charm, while the spa town of Buxton can be reached in about 20 minutes by car.
Lathkill Dale, now managed as a nature reserve by Natural England, is renowned for its rich biodiversity and fascinating geological formations, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts and walkers alike.
