Clachtoll Beach Campsite is our award-winning, family-run camping and touring site on the Stoer Peninsula near Lochinver in Sutherland. We are based in the Assynt area of north-west Scotland, beside the golden sands of Clachtoll Beach with views across the sea towards Lewis, Harris and Skye. Our position on the North Coast 500 route makes us a convenient base for exploring the surrounding area.
Our level campsite covers approximately 2.5 acres and welcomes tents, touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans, trailer tents and backpackers. We offer serviced pitches with water and electric hook-ups, most with sea views, alongside unserviced pitches overlooking the surrounding hills. All pitches are laid to grass or artificial turf. We also open for a week from the 28th of December.
Wooden walkways lead through the dunes to Clachtoll Beach, which forms part of the Scottish Wildlife Trust's snorkel trail. We are also on Scotland's Whale and Dolphin Trail, with sightings of dolphins, porpoises, minke whales, otters and eagles. The distinctive Split Rock is another feature of the coastline.
Lochinver is approximately five miles away with shops, cafés, restaurants and local amenities. The surrounding Assynt area is popular for walking, fishing, swimming and exploring the coastline. Places to visit include Culag Woods, the Leitir Easaidh walking trail and the mountains of Suilven, Canisp and Quinag. Ullapool is around an hour's drive away while Inverness is approximately two hours from the campsite.
