Swallowtails, Pickering, North Yorkshire

Swallowtails offers camping and luxurious glamping accommodation just a short walk from the market town of Pickering, in the heart of North Yorkshire. Set in a peaceful countryside location on the edge of the stunning North York Moors, the site provides an ideal setting for a tranquil and relaxing getaway. Combining comfort, style and beautiful rural surroundings, Swallowtails is a perfect base for exploring scenic walking trails, local attractions and the natural beauty of the Yorkshire countryside.

The spacious luxury yurts are designed for comfortable family or group stays, offering generous space along with the convenience of private shower and toilet facilities. Each of the four beautifully insulated 18ft yurts sleeps up to four guests, featuring a king-size bed and two single beds in the form of a daybed with a pull-out trundle. There is also the option to accommodate a fifth guest with an additional camp bed. Fully equipped for self-catering, each yurt includes bedding and towels, electric sockets, lighting, a cosy wood-burning stove and outdoor seating areas, ensuring a relaxing and well-appointed glamping experience.

All camping pitches include a level hardstanding area suitable for a campervan or small motorhome, or for use as a picnic space alongside the adjoining grass tent pitch. Each pitch benefits from its own water tap, with some also offering electric hook-up. Larger pitches include a picnic table for added convenience. A well-equipped facilities block is located nearby, providing toilets, showers, wash basins, a kitchen area and a playroom within the stable building. Raised fire pits are permitted on site, and a communal campfire provides a welcoming focal point for guests.

Onsite facilities include a family shower room, a hot tub area available to book, toilets (with all yurts having their own), outdoor games such as giant Jenga, badminton and table tennis, a children’s play area, a games room, a supplies shack for food and drink, a communal campfire area, secure bike storage available on request, and a range of activity days for children, families and adults.

Pickering is a charming town offering a variety of attractions, including historic sites, independent shops, museums, restaurants, pubs and cafés. Visitors can explore Pickering Castle, enjoy a scenic journey on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, visit Flamingo Land Resort, or discover the exhibits at Beck Isle Museum. Other nearby attractions include Dalby Forest, Castle Howard, North Yorkshire Waterpark, York Minster and the National Railway Museum in York.

Yurts are available from £95 per night, and camping pitches from £27 per pitch, per night. The site is open all year round.
