Parkgate Farm – Western Lake District
Parkgate Farm is the perfect destination for peace, tranquillity, and adventure. Nestled in a valley with stunning views of the Wasdale and Eskdale fells, the farm offers a choice of accommodation including three luxury glamping cabins, five holiday caravans, and a cosy holiday cottage. From April to December, the campsite is also open, providing both electric pitches and a camping pod.
Glamping Cabins
The two-bedroom cabins each feature one double room and one triple-bedded room, alongside a shower room and an open-plan living and kitchen area. Kitchens are fully equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster and kettle. Each cabin has outdoor dining space with a BBQ, and interiors are insulated and heated with the added comfort of an electric wood burner. Elevated positions provide panoramic fell views, making them ideal for families or couples.
Camping
The site includes nine spacious pitches (five with electric hook-up), plus a camping pod. Facilities include family shower rooms, separate toilets, a washing-up area, and a washing machine. Each pitch comes with adjacent parking and a picnic bench. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome per pitch, though they must stay within the pitch boundary. Raised BBQs are permitted, but disposable BBQs are not due to fire risk.
Holiday Caravans
Parkgate Farm’s five fully insulated and centrally heated caravans each have a private raised decked patio with beautiful fell views:
Whin Rigg – sleeps 6 in three bedrooms (one double and two twins).
Irton Pike & Latterbarrow – each sleep 4 (one double and a small double sofa bed in the lounge).
Mecklin & Tinkler Craggs – each sleep 4 in two bedrooms (one double and one twin).
Location & Surroundings
Surrounded by fields and woodland, Parkgate Farm is a haven for wildlife and a wonderful base for exploration. Guests can enjoy low-level walks, high fell adventures, or a network of bridleways ideal for mountain biking and horse riding. Children will love the freedom to play, explore, and build dens, while the setting provides a peaceful escape for those who simply wish to relax.
A hidden gem in the Western Lakes, Parkgate Farm offers a serene retreat where the only sounds are birdsong, rustling trees, and the occasional bray of a resident donkey.
