Acton Field Camping Site, Swanage, Dorset
Acton Field Camping is located in Langton Matravers, a small village on the outskirts of Swanage in Dorset. Langton Matravers provides an excellent base for exploring the beautiful Purbeck Hills and the Jurassic Coast and is easily accessible for guests. The campsite is just a short drive from the centre of Swanage, where visitors will find a wide range of shops and amenities.
The campsite offers a total of 100 pitches for touring caravans and tents. Facilities are clean and well maintained, providing toilets, showers, washing-up sinks and constant hot water. Two freezers are available for ice packs, along with two chemical disposal points. There is an electric point in the ladies’ facilities and a shaver socket in the gents’.
Situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Jurassic Coast, Acton Field Camping is ideally positioned close to the South West Coast Path. Dancing Ledge is just a one-mile walk from the site. From there, walkers can turn left to follow the coastal path towards Swanage, or turn right towards Winspit, continuing through the valley to Worth Matravers and the famous Square and Compass pub. This scenic route offers the chance to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat while taking in the stunning countryside views before returning via footpaths to Langton Matravers and Acton Field.
Acton Field Camping is ideal for camping, walking and cycling, with numerous footpaths and bridleways nearby. The site is also well placed for those attending the Swanage Festival. The sandy, safe beaches of Swanage and Studland are within easy reach.
Public transport is conveniently located, with a bus stop just five minutes’ walk from the campsite. Regular services run to Swanage, Wareham, Poole, Bournemouth, Weymouth and beyond. Wareham train station, on the main line to London Waterloo, is also easily accessible, making the campsite a great choice for both local and long-distance travellers.
