Cheglinch Farm Glamping, West Down, Ilfracombe, Devon
Cheglinch Farm Glamping is set in a beautiful part of Devon, just a short drive from the sandy beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde, Saunton and Putsborough. Offering both glamping and wild camping in separate locations, it provides the perfect base for those looking to escape the stresses of modern life and reconnect with nature.
The glamping site is tucked away in a sheltered field, featuring three Lotus Belle tents, each positioned on its own wooden decking within a spacious four-acre field. The tents are thoughtfully spaced to provide privacy while still being close enough for groups to enjoy a shared experience. Each luxurious tent comfortably sleeps four guests on proper beds (one double and two singles), with bedding provided. There is also space for a baby or toddler with additional arrangements. Guests benefit from private toilet facilities, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen including a gas barbecue, and a shower room. A shared play barn is available for all glampers, offering games and activities for children, as well as dining areas, fridge, freezer, microwave and laundry facilities. The site is family-friendly, with plenty of space for children to play and opportunities to see animals including guinea pigs, chickens and nearby cattle. Due to the animals onsite, dogs are not permitted in the glamping area.
Wild camping is available during the summer months in a separate field on the outskirts of the farm. This area offers wide open space, stunning views and a peaceful rural setting, ideal for relaxing under the night sky. Dogs are welcome in the wild camping area, making it suitable for the whole family. Facilities are basic to maintain an authentic wild camping experience, with access to fresh drinking water, a washing-up sink and toilet facilities. Showers are not provided, though guests are welcome to bring portable options.
The nearby village of West Down is within walking distance and offers a pub, community shop and playing field. Ilfracombe is just a short drive away and features a range of amenities including shops, supermarkets, a swimming pool, cinema and theatre. The town’s harbour is home to Damien Hirst’s famous statue “Verity” and offers fishing trips, excursions to Lundy Island and traditional seaside dining. Visitors can also explore the historic Victorian tunnel beaches, known for their tidal bathing pools and fascinating rock pools.
