Parc Pen Y Bryn Campsite, Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr, Corwen, Denbighshire
Parc Pen Y Bryn is a peaceful rural campsite in North Wales, set just outside the boundary of Snowdonia National Park and nestled beside one of the region’s hidden gems, the Clocaenog Forest. This vast conifer woodland stretches across one hundred square kilometres and feels like a Welsh Narnia, with its towering trees, rolling heather moorland, winding trails, secret paths, cascading waterfalls and well-marked tracks perfect for family cycling or horse riding.
The campsite itself is tucked away in a secluded and tranquil spot, surrounded by open countryside where grassy fields meet the distant sight of gently turning wind turbines. With only a small number of hardstanding touring pitches spread generously across the grounds, the atmosphere always remains calm and uncrowded. Families, couples and their dogs can enjoy the space to roam freely, while neat pitches provide a comfortable base for campervans and motorhomes of all kinds.
For those without their own accommodation, Parc Pen Y Bryn offers a handful of charming wooden cabins. Each cabin is thoughtfully designed with a double bed and sofa bed, a small kitchenette with essentials such as a kettle, toaster, hob, fridge and pans, a television, and a private decking area with chairs and a firepit for evenings outdoors. Facilities across the site are well maintained, including modern showers and toilets, a communal kitchen for meal preparation and washing up, and picnic benches for enjoying the sweeping views. A small woodland patch and open field also provide plenty of space for dogs to stretch their legs.
The location is ideal for exploring North Wales. Just a short distance away, Llyn Brenig reservoir offers a wide range of activities such as sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, mountain biking and walking trails. The picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed, known as the gateway to Snowdonia, is only a short drive away and brimming with hiking opportunities and attractions. Equally close are Ruthin, with its rich history, independent shops, vibrant arts scene and excellent dining, and the town of Corwen in the scenic Dee Valley, a perfect base for further countryside adventures.
