Lundy Island Campsite, Bideford, Devon
Lundy Island Campsite offers a simple yet stunning camping experience in a remote and peaceful setting, just 11 miles off the North Devon coast. This unique island retreat provides the perfect escape from the pressures of modern life.
Accommodating up to 40 campers, the campsite is centrally located in the heart of the village, within close proximity to the Marisco Tavern and the island shop. Lundy’s breathtaking landscape, close-knit community, and tranquil way of life make it a truly special destination, leaving visitors longing for more time to explore.
The camping field includes a shower block with toilets, showers, and sinks for washing up, along with a nearby drinking water station. Open fires, Kelly kettles, and firewood collection are strictly prohibited due to fire risks. However, campers are welcome to bring a gas stove for cooking. For safety reasons, gas must be handed to a ship’s crew member, as it is transported separately on deck in a designated locker before being delivered to the camping area along with luggage and equipment. Launderette facilities are available, subject to availability and additional fees.
At the heart of the island, the Marisco Tavern provides a welcoming space for a drink at any time of day or night. Next door, the island shop is well-stocked with essentials for visitors.
Lundy Island is managed by The Landmark Trust and offers seasonal transport services, with a ferry operating from Ilfracombe and Bideford during the summer and a helicopter service in the winter.
