Purple Badger Camping & Fishing Lakes, Beeby, Leicestershire
Purple Badger Camping & Fishing Lakes, located in Beeby on the border of Leicestershire and Rutland, offers a serene escape amidst woodland, set beside two picturesque fishing lakes. This tranquil haven is ideal for those seeking to disconnect and immerse themselves in nature and wildlife.
The campsite features seven spacious ten-metre-wide pitches exclusively for tents (touring caravans and motorhomes are not permitted). Each pitch, named after a fictional badger, includes its own fire pit area, providing a cosy and private camping experience.
For guests seeking a touch of convenience, Purple Badger offers two pre-erected bell tents, Millie and Val. Millie is fully furnished with a double bed and equipped with essentials for a comfortable glamping getaway, while Val provides a blank canvas for guests to bring their own camping gear.
Communal facilities include The Badger’s Den, a sheltered area perfect for escaping the sun or rain, and The Old Chicken Shed, which offers washing-up facilities, drinking water, and a shared fridge/freezer. Guests can also enjoy refreshments from the onsite Coffee Cart, which serves drinks, snacks, and hot sandwiches. Showers and toilets are conveniently located nearby, with two wooden-hut toilets and showers ingeniously set in a converted horsebox.
For a luxurious retreat, two shepherds' huts, Logan and Jude, are available. Situated at the top of one of the fishing lakes, these huts provide a relaxing and private experience. Each is equipped with bedding (guests are asked to bring their own towels), a wood burner, an electric hob, a microwave, a small fridge, and all necessary utensils and crockery. Both huts have a private shower and toilet, as well as outdoor tables and chairs to enjoy the evening sun after a day of fishing or exploring.
Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy year-round access to the lakes, which are home to a variety of fish, including Roach, Perch, Carp, and Rudd. Fishing sessions must be booked in advance via the Purple Badger website.
Beyond the campsite, the local area offers plenty of attractions. Visitors can explore the nearby market towns of Melton Mowbray and Market Harborough or enjoy walking and cycling around the scenic Rutland Water, making Purple Badger Camping & Fishing Lakes an excellent base for a relaxing getaway.
