Burnbake, Corfe Castle, Wareham, Dorset

Burnbake near Wareham is a 12-acre partially wooded campsite situated between Corfe Castle and Studland on the Isle of Purbeck. Its superb location is ideal for exploring Dorset’s Jurassic Coast.

The campsite features 22 forest lodges that can sleep between 4 and 6 people. Each lodge comes with a wood-burning stove and a hot tub, and a selection of lodges are now dog-friendly. An electric car charging point is available at reception.

The facilities at Burnbake Campsite are excellent, being regularly checked, cleaned, and well-maintained. There are two purpose-built centrally located buildings. The original main building includes both gents' and ladies’ facilities with loos, hot showers, and washing sinks with mirrors. Two unisex toilets with baby change facilities and a hairdryer in each are also available. A separate laundry room offers coin-operated washing machines and tumble dryers.

Both buildings have washing-up sinks, and behind the shop, there is a chemical loo disposal point. Two large fields adjoin the site for group games. An on-site café, operated separately from the campsite, is open most weekends throughout the season and every day during school holidays, offering breakfasts, hot and cold drinks, and evening meals.

The well-stocked shop opens twice a day. Milk, bread, and cakes arrive daily in time for breakfast. Alcohol, Calor gas, charcoal, cooking, and camping equipment are also available. Campfires are allowed in containers off the ground, which are available for hire in the shop.

The site has 10 electric hook-up points available on a first-come, first-served basis, with an additional charge of £7.00 per night. Campervans are welcome too.

Safari tents are also available, serving as a ‘home away from home’ for up to 4 or 6 guests. These tents are fully equipped with comfy beds, provided bed linen (guests need to bring their own towels), a relaxing sofa with blankets and cushions, a sociable dining table with chairs, and a kitchen space stocked with crockery, cutlery, and cooking equipment. They also feature a fridge with a small freezer compartment, an electric hob, toaster, sink, and stove kettle. The tents offer cold drinking water from the kitchen tap but no hot water. Additionally, they have interior lighting, electrical plug sockets, external seating on a decked porch, a fire pit, and close access to shower pods and private portaloos.

Dogs are welcome at Burnbake free of charge, but they must be on a lead at all times and cleaned up after.

Studland offers three miles of sandy beach with excellent safe bathing, sailing, and windsurfing. The seaside resort of Swanage provides good swimming, tennis, putting, bowls, and other leisure activities. The campsite has direct access to bridleways for walking, running, or biking.

Additionally, a 7-acre field attached to the main campsite is available for hire, in part or as one area, for events, scout camps, large group camps, etc. Telephone for additional details and charges.
